"Forgiveness"

This weekend I want to talk about something we often find very difficult to do day to day, forgiveness. Ephesians 4:32 " Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you." It is so important to forgive those who have wronged you, because not only does it cause you more pain then necessary it can fester into bigger and worse emotions that can take a toll on you. Often times forgiving is more for yourself then the other person, most times the anger, hurt and or sadness that you are left with will not effect them they continue their lives without giving another thought on you or what they did. When forgiving them it has to honestly and whole hearted with out expecting anything in return, it is taking the high road like Jesus had done so many times. Forgiving is so important it is written countless times in the Bible.

Colossians 3:13 "bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive."

Matthew 6:14

" 14For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, 15 but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."

Those are just a few of the many that talk about forgiving. It is a lesson God wants us to do constantly.

Matthew 18:21

"Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?”22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times."

No where does it say it is easy but it is something we need to continue to practice everyday with others and even ourselves.
