"Following"

this week I wanted to talk about following and what it looks like in the Bible. In our lives we have followed an order or instructions of others in a higher position then you, whether in a job, in family, school, friendships and relationships. In these situations there are two routes question everything you have been instructed to do or just doing what is told. Now when we are talking about God following includes Faith. Many stories in the Bible are first hand experiences of the disciples and people following God's instructions with no doubt (faith), or with many questions. Lets take the example of Jesus calling Peter to walk on water. Matthew 14:28 (ESV) 28 And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” 29He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. 30But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” 31Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”. With the story I wanted to also bring attention to the doubt Peter had while out on the water, walking towards Jesus. When following there will be doubt, but the important thing is to call out to God to set you back on the right path. Like you see in verse 30-31 peter calls out to Jesus when he realizes he is sinking, and the amazing part of the next verse says "Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him." God will always have His hand out for you when trip up while following Him.
